Styling Tips

One of the best things about a human hair wig is how versatile it is — you can curl it, straighten it, colour it, and customise it just like your natural hair. Here's everything you need to know to style your wig like a pro.

✂️ How to Cut Your Lace

Cutting the lace is one of the most important steps for achieving a natural, undetectable look. Take your time — you can always cut more, but you can't add it back!

  1. Put the wig on and adjust it to sit where you want your hairline to be.
  2. Use a fine-tooth comb to gently push the baby hairs forward so you can see the lace clearly.
  3. Using small, sharp scissors (curved lace scissors are ideal), cut along the hairline in small sections. Cut as close to the hairline as possible without cutting the hair knots.
  4. Cut in a zigzag or curved motion rather than a straight line — this creates a more natural, irregular hairline.
  5. Leave a tiny bit of lace (about 1–2mm) to allow for adhesive application.

📌 How to Apply Your Wig (Adhesive Method)

  1. Prep your skin — Clean your hairline with isopropyl alcohol to remove oils. This helps the adhesive bond better.
  2. Apply a scalp protector (optional but recommended) to protect your skin from the adhesive.
  3. Apply wig glue or lace tape along your hairline in thin layers. Allow each layer to become tacky before applying the next (usually 2–3 layers).
  4. Press the lace down firmly along the hairline and hold for 30–60 seconds.
  5. Use a scarf or wig band to press the edges down while the adhesive sets (10–15 minutes).
  6. Once set, style as desired!

Tip: For a glueless option, use the adjustable straps and combs inside the wig cap for a secure fit without any adhesive.

💇 Customising Your Hairline

  • Baby hairs — Use a small toothbrush or edge brush with a light-hold gel to lay and style baby hairs for a realistic hairline.
  • Plucking — If your wig isn't pre-plucked, use tweezers to gently remove a few hairs at the hairline to create a natural density gradient. Work slowly and in small sections.
  • Tinting the knots — Use a dark brown or black eyeshadow or knot concealer to darken the lace knots for a more realistic scalp appearance.

🔥 Heat Styling

  • Always use a heat protectant spray before applying any heat.
  • Use a flat iron or curling wand on low to medium heat (below 180°C / 356°F).
  • For curls that last, curl the hair and allow it to cool completely before releasing or brushing.
  • Avoid applying heat to the same section repeatedly in one session.

🌈 Can I Colour My Wig?

Yes! Because our wigs are made from 100% human hair, they can be coloured just like natural hair. However, we recommend:

  • Going darker rather than lighter — bleaching can weaken the hair strands.
  • Using a professional colourist if you're unsure, especially for major colour changes.
  • Always doing a strand test first.
  • Deep conditioning after any colour treatment to restore moisture.

💤 Overnight Care

  • Never sleep in your wig if you can avoid it — friction causes tangling and matting.
  • If you do sleep in it, braid the hair loosely and wrap with a silk or satin scarf.
  • Store your wig on a wig stand overnight to maintain its style and shape.
