Wig Care Guide
Your human hair wig is a premium investment β and with the right care, it can last 1β3 years or more. Follow this step-by-step guide to keep your wig looking beautiful, healthy, and natural.
𧴠How Often Should You Wash Your Wig?
Wash your wig every 7β10 wears, or sooner if you've been sweating, using heavy products, or wearing it in humid conditions. Over-washing can strip the hair of its natural moisture.
πΏ Step-by-Step Washing Instructions
- Detangle first β Use a wide-tooth comb or detangling brush to gently remove knots, starting from the ends and working upward. Never brush a wet wig aggressively.
- Rinse with cool water β Hold the wig under cool running water, letting it flow in a downward direction to avoid tangling. Avoid hot water, which can damage the hair cuticles.
- Apply sulfate-free shampoo β Use a small amount of sulfate-free, moisturising shampoo. Gently work it through the hair in a downward motion β never scrub in circles.
- Rinse thoroughly β Rinse until the water runs completely clear. Leftover shampoo can cause buildup and dullness.
- Condition generously β Apply a deep conditioner or hair mask from mid-length to ends. Avoid the wig cap/knots area to prevent loosening. Leave on for 5β15 minutes.
- Rinse again β Rinse out the conditioner with cool water.
π¨ Drying Your Wig
- Gently squeeze (never wring) excess water out with a soft towel.
- Place the wig on a wig stand and allow it to air dry naturally β this is the best method for preserving the hair.
- If you must use a blow dryer, use the lowest heat setting with a heat protectant spray.
- Never sleep on a wet wig.
β¨ Products to Use
- β Sulfate-free, moisturising shampoo
- β Deep conditioner or hair mask
- β Leave-in conditioner (light formula)
- β Heat protectant spray (before any heat styling)
- β Light hair oil or serum for shine (apply sparingly to ends)
π« Products to Avoid
- β Shampoos containing sulfates or alcohol

- β Dry shampoo (causes buildup on the cap)
- β Products with harsh chemicals or bleach
ποΈ Storage Tips
- Store your wig on a wig stand or mannequin head to maintain its shape.
- Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can fade colour and dry out the hair.
- For long-term storage, place the wig in a silk or satin bag to reduce friction and tangling.
- Never store a wig while it's still damp.
π₯ Heat Styling Tips
- Always apply a heat protectant before using any hot tools.
- Keep flat irons and curling wands below 180Β°C (356Β°F).
- Limit heat styling to 1β2 times per week to preserve the hair's integrity.
- Allow the hair to cool completely before brushing after heat styling.
